Custom UIs

Post by Xelissa » Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:26 pm

For Matt: (sorry for the size - photobucket shrinks it)

My interface, using IncendiaryUI and Nash's XP bar add-ons.

Note: I didn't directly follow the directions for nash's xp bar because the way incendiary is set up the xp bar is at the top.

Image

Things I like about this UI:
*more hot keys, smaller buttons
*different health bars (casting bar fits under the bars - casting bars can be moved if you turn them on in the interface options, move them, and then you can turn them back off)
*larger party window, with the ability to show buffs (seems pretty well implemented - space between party members expands and shrinks dependent on how many lines of buffs are required)
*room for a combat window
*xp bar on the top (I hate bottom-screen clutter)
*buff icons don't shrink when you get more than 10 or whatever
*BLUE XP BAR! =D

Things I dislike:
*No latency meter
*I'd rather have the healthbars lower, and put the casting bars above them, but what can you do?
*Since I'm a clicker, it took a while to adjust to smaller button size, but now I'm good with it
*With custom UIs, I seem to get more client errors (meaning a brief, sharp, frozen lag-spike) than other people, but I haven't verified that -other people seem to get them too during lag times, even if they don't have custom UIs

Another one that I thought was nice was Nash's UI.

When I first tried it he only had the small icons, which were REALLY small. He added in a larger icon set, but the first hotbar was broken (the attack keys were offset to the right instead of the middle), so I went to Incendiary.

This is how it looked:

He might have fixed it by now, though.

I like how this UI looks, but since I'm a clicker, a little space between icons (if they're going to be small) is nice.

EDIT: here's how to hack together Nash's XP bar with Incendiary UI

ONE:

After installing Incendiary UI, find the following file (note for 64-bit Vista users: replace Program Files with Program Files (x86)):

C:\Program Files\Funcom\Age of Conan\cd_image\Gui\Customized\Views\XPBar.xml

Make a copy of this file as a backup.

Replace the contents of this file with the following XML:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<!-- $Change: 49995 $ (must be within the first 200 characters of the file) -->
<View view_layout="stacked"
      v_alignment="BOTTOM"
      view_flags="WID_IGNORE_WHEN_HIDDEN|WID_HANDLE_MOUSE"
      tooltip_x_offset="1.0"
      tooltip_y_offset="-20.0"
      marker_count    = "21"
	bar_gfx_normal  = "CustomUI/NashEXPBar/bottombars/Nash_experiencebar_full.tga"
      bar_gfx_strong  = "CustomUI/NashEXPBar/bottombars/Nash_experiencebar_full_hyperpower.tga"
      bar_sparkle_normal = "bottombars/experiencebar_sparkle.tga"
      bar_sparkle_strong = "bottombars/experiencebar_sparkle_strong.tga"

      power_session_border_normal_left   = "bottombars/powersession_left.png"
      power_session_border_normal_center = "bottombars/powersession_center.png"
      power_session_border_normal_right  = "bottombars/powersession_right.png"

      power_session_border_group_left    = "bottombars/powersession_group_left.png"
      power_session_border_group_center  = "bottombars/powersession_group_center.png"
      power_session_border_group_right   = "bottombars/powersession_group_right.png"

      marker_gfx      = "bottombars/experiencebar_marker.tga"

>
    <CharStatBar name="XPBar"
		 stat_type="xp"
		 orientation="right"
		 flash_on_reduce="true"
		 view_flags="PBF_TILE_BG_HORIZONTAL|PBF_TILE_FG_HORIZONTAL"
		 slider_mode="clip"
		 bg_gfx="bottombars/experiencebar_empty.tga"
		 fg_gfx=""
		 sparkle_gfx=""
		 sparkle_offset="0.0"
		 min_size_extend="Point(COORD_MAX,-1)"
		 layout_borders="Rect(0,0,0,0)" />
    <View name="MarkerView" max_size_extend="Point(COORD_MAX,COORD_MAX)"/>
    <View name="PowerSessionContainerView" max_size_extend="Point(COORD_MAX,COORD_MAX)">
	<BorderView name="PowerSessionBorderView" view_layout="stacked" >
	    <TextView name="PowerSessionCountView" layout_borders="Rect(11,7,11,0)" default_color="active"/>
	</BorderView>
    </View>
</View>
TWO

Install the images from Nash's XP Bar in the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Funcom\Age of Conan\cd_image\Gui\Default\gfx\CustomUI\NashEXPBar\bottombars

To change colors, copy the images from one of the directories (the one named after the color you want!) out into the parent directory. e.g. copy the images from the Purple directory into the bottombars directory, overwriting the images currently there.

I think that should work. Let us know if there are any problems?

thanks, tally!

I tried to do the Nash code but messed up. I think it's probably because it's really late, rendering me retarded.

I'll try again tomorrow or Wednesday, perhaps :D

PS, got to level 62 tonight, so I'm not too far off!

Here's MirageUI. Everything is smaller and conveniently down on the bottom. And check out that purple bar!

Very sleek and not glitchy at all--plenty of space and a group bar to the left similar to Tally's UI. And I do have a latency bar, Tally :D

I had enough space to put buffs and roots on one side, dps in the middle, and healing/buffs on the right with 3 bars. You can have any from 2-4 on the bottom, either normal size or this size, which is 2/3 size from the game's UI. It was very simple to apply--just follow the directions on the website.

That looks pretty good. I might have to give that one a try.

Installed and used it while doing some harvesting in Poitain. This UI is really clean and functional. I love that it shows the numbers for my hp/mp/stam and shows the % for resources nodes, without hovering the cursor over it. The color scheme for the chat box is really nice as well. I'm using the small 3 bars. Don't really need 3 bars, but it's nice to have extra space. I'll post a screenshot tomorrow.

I'm going to use the one Matt posted only because I need more buttons! I have way too many buffs and too little slots. My poor horse doesn't have a hot key anymore, and I know I am getting more things to add to my stupid bar soon enough.

when you post a ss, will you make sure you target something so we can see what that looks like? also, if it isn't too much trouble, I'd like to see the party window.

The first one shows the guild/friends list and targets of target.
Image

This one shows my casting bar and that little action button. The target's casting bar is right above that little circle.
Image

The last one shows the group interface. I thought it showed buffs like Incendiary, but for some reason it didn't. All I saw was that he was in Defensive stance...

I'm using the Mirage UI...but my character's portrait is missing the health, stamina and mana bar. So are the enemies I click on. The numbers/percentages are there but there's no red, green and blue...

Any ideas? :(

EDIT: NM. The link posted is the last version. The new version is here and worked fine.
The cake is a lie.

Am I going to have to update the numbers each week after the patch? I had to go in and fix the 5 numbers on all the files.

Ugh, used the patcher this week, and I lost my blue/ purple XP bar and my friend/ guild list is completely empty. :(
