What crafting skill, if any, will you pick on release?

Rogue tanking was clearly the best, amirite?

What crafting skill, if any, will you pick on release?

There are 9 professions (3 gathering, 6 crafting), and you can take a maximum of any 3.

Gathering Professions:
*Butchering (used primarily for outfitting, and apothecary and armorsmithing to a less extent)
*Foraging (used primarily for apothecary, and weaponsmithing and artificing to a less extent)
*Mining (used for armorsmithing and weaponsmithing - and artificing?)

Crafting Professions
*Apothecary (potions, dyes, explosives)
*Armorsmithing (chain and plate armor and shields)
*Artificing (jewelry, staves, wands, caster off-hands)
*Outfitting (cloth and leather armor, bags)
*Runecrafting (enchantment items)
*Weaponsmithing (swords, maces, daggers, bows)

Which are people thinking of picking up?

I will probably take up Butchering and Outfitting. Though I might just go with mining and armor-crafting since my main will probably be a chain-wearing cleric...?

Haven't really decided...but it's between those two.
The cake is a lie.

Butchering, Mining, and Armorsmithing

I enjoyed crafting. Usually the crafted armor was slightly better than the quest rewards.

I'm thinking of taking Runecrafting, then Apothecary and Foraging for potions. Seems like clerics will need mana pots quite badly.

Artificing seems interesting, though. You tried it a little in one of the betas, right, Eric? Does it take metals collected through mining? Does it take anything else?

If Eric is going armorsmitthing, I'll probably stick with Outfitting, butchering and pick up mining to help with ore for armor/weapons.
The cake is a lie.

Yea Artificer makes wands and jewelry. So you'll use both gems (mining) and wood (foraging). I didn't get very far on it, but the items seem decent.

Terry, we can both go Armorsmithing. Just in case one of us is not on.

Ohhh, so you only use the gems from mining for artificer, no metal? Do the gems come from special nodes, or is like you're mining a tin node and you have a chance to get a ruby or something? And if you're making a ring, does it just take a couple gems, or does it take wood + gems?

Sorry, it does take metal. I completely forgot. The gems are obtained randomly from mining. Amorsmithing doesn't use any gems, so I could always send you mine. During the beta events, I had a lot left over. I ended up vendoring them. I think most of the Artificer recipes required one or two gems.

I'll definitely be a weaponsmith or an outfitter for this game--still haven't decided.

I'm thinking outfitter with lots of gathering would be fine since you can make decent buck off of gathering and selling raw stacks of crafting materials and just making bags bags bags for the AH.

I noticed that Butchering produces other white items as well, like bones and whatnot. Have you guys found a use for them? I've just been vendoring them.

Some of them are for artificer and some for alchemy I think.

I'm gonna do artificer.

Well, we all know my *love* of crafting, so I'll probably take two gathering skills to help out. I might take some crafting skill that fills in a gap, but I usually really hate spending time on crafting.

I tried Runecrafting briefly in beta 5 and I really liked it. Reminds me a lot of WoW's enchanting. So I'll probably take Outfitting, Butchering, and Runecrafting on an alt.

Is anybody doing Artificer as a main crafting skill? If not, I am going to pick it up along with mining and foraging.
